Fresh and Local Fruits and Veggies
Those creeps out in California have been holding back on us. All this hype they gave us starting with Tang for God’s sake … and going on with The Freeway, then Cutting-Edge Technology … and the final insult: “Yahoo” …. well who knew that all along they were a 40-minute rusty pick-up truck ride from the freshest fruits and vegetables in the country. Fine, let ‘em go for a luge in the Pacific when The Big One arrives and meanwhile we can amble over to 500 Harrison Avenue and peruse the Junior Baby Bok Choy, fresh LOCAL strawberries, artisan breads, cut and potted flowers, blueberries from NH in July, corn in August … damn! And right here in center SoWa. Right out there in a slatted wooden box where you can smell it – yep, both the box and the produce. Directly, you’ll be thumpin’ melons like an old hand from Tuscaloosa come September. You go on!
