Halloween Party and last day of SoWa Sundays 2009…

Here’s what’s up:
Rocca invites pumpkin-carving-master Travis Reckner to do a live demo for guests of SoWa Sundays. Travis Reckner comes from from the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular at the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence. Demo is at 1:30pm in the arcade at 460 Harrison Avenue. Get a sneak peek of the jack-o-lanterns that are featured at the J-O-L Spectacular by coming by the Markets this Sunday… More info if you RSVP on facebook.

Musical guests this week: Kim Jennings, Merrily James and Gabrilla Ballard help close out the season with one more show from the SoWa Sundays Music Series.

At 540 Harrison, on the Greenlight patio, ÂFÄS (an artist collaborative group founded by Izzy Berdan) is holding a Fruit and Vegetable Carving Contest with prizes in three categories: Pumpkin, Large Fruit/Vegetable and Small Fruit/Vegetable. To be eligible, all carvings must take place on premises and no stencils allowed! Carving party begins at 12:00 and judging is at 4:00pm sharp. RSVP to the facebook event for details and updates.

And of course, every year on the last Sunday of the season (it’s tradition by now) the SoWa Open Market holds it’s annual Market of the Living Dead. This year customers are invited to dress up and enter a Customer Costume Contest (awesome alliteration) for a chance to win up to $350 in Market Cash. Register at the SoWa info booth from 10:00am to 1:30pm. Judging is at 2:00pm which gives you a generous two hours to spend all that money on some lovely handmade goodies. And don’t forget to stop by for the judging of the vendors costumes- vendors can win an entire season of vending for free!

As if you needed more, the {New New} is back in Boston, all the way from NYC, joining the SoWa Open Market.

Yeah!

The Markets host three local musicians this Sunday: The Open Market features Adam Payne from 12 to 2 and The Food & Produce Market has Carolina Chacin from 11-1 and Cielle from 1 to 3.

By the way… have you tried the hummus at the Food & Produce Market. Free samples! It’s soooooo good.

Come check us out. We’ve got only 3 Sundays left before the end of the season, then we’ll take a break for November and come right back with SoWa Winter Lights in December.
