OCOT: the Opening Celebration On Thayer

Join the Party. On Friday, May 1st, SoWa Sundays will be hosting a Grand Opening Celebration for 10 new galleries, stores and design companies who have set up shop in the recently renovated building at 460 Harrison Avenue. The 460 building sits directly across Thayer Street from the artist studios and galleries of 450 Harrison, and is an exciting new addition to SoWa and the South End. Help us welcome our new friends to the neighborhood with a night of art, music and shopping.
OCOT coincides with the May “First Friday” – the mini open studios at the 450 Harrison Ave artists building, occurring monthly throughout the year. Traditionally, this is also the day that the galleries on Thayer Street hold the opening receptions for their new shows. To entertain you further, SoWa Sundays will host live music by Hayley Goff and Chris Parlon and a tango dancing performance from AnaLinda of Tango Embrace.
SoWa Sundays, our OCOT host, is a new addition to the Boston Weekend Scene. Every Sunday from May 17 through October 25, residents, visitors and tourists are invited to travel down to the SoWa District in Boston’s South End to enjoy three big outdoor markets. The SoWa Open Market is in its 6th year and showcases art and crafts handmade by artisans from all over the Northeast. Two new markets; the SoWa Antiques Market, and the SoWa Food and Produce Market will make their Boston debut. Together, these three weekly events make for a very unique shopping experience.
Don’t forget that 2 weeks after OCOT is the SoWa Art Walk, the South End’s Spring Open Studios.
